SOLTEIRA

IN COLABORATION WITH DRIADE

Solteira began from a look at self-care (Epiméleia Heautoû) and at the techniques of isolation and examination that appear in Christian religiosity, whose function was to produce a relationship between subjects and God and which is central to the configuration of Brazil's vernacular religious experiences.

The design begins from forms that evoke transcendentalism and its dramaticity (great structures, halos and arcs, rigid forms) and that produce a struggle between balance and excess. As a kind of confessional space, Solteira is at the border between the pew and the altar, the aesthetic and the functional, the sacred and the profane.
